With a primary focus on the Nuclear Sector, our Technical Communities based in the South West of England are making valuable contributions to the mega-infrastructure, Nuclear New Build project at Hinkley Point C (HPC), Somerset and the predicted build at Sizewell C (SZC) in Suffolk.
We are now looking to grow and develop our existing Team and are actively seeking career minded Cost Engineers to complement and further showcase our abilities. In this case, all work is associated with HPC and will be SW Region (UK) based in Bridgwater, Somerset.

Scope
Cost Engineers will provide cost analysis support to planning and scheduling teams for internal and client projects.
They will be responsible for managing and controlling the finances of projects or programmes using appropriate tools to analyse the performance of the schedule/plan. Cost Engineers should report the cost performance of the plan to senior members of the team and communicate effectively with stakeholders responsible for delivering the plan to ensure that it is representative of current progress.
Key Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
As part of the Project Management and Project Controls team, typical responsibilities will involve:
* Developing, managing and updating project and programme plans including full costing, development of WBSs, resource management, cost management of risk and critical path review, using appropriate software and tools.
* Managing the change control as the project/programme scope changes, using the correct processes and updating the necessary configuration documentation.
* Understanding the need for project baseline control and different types of baseline change.
* Understanding the tools (e.g. EVM) to assess project cost performance against the baseline schedule.
* Understanding risk and opportunities and integrating the cost of these strategies effectively into the plan/schedule
* Understanding project control methodologies and processes for programme and project management
* Producing monthly reports
* Integrating with project estimates, schedules and performing the cost management requirements
Person Specification
Cost Engineers must have, or be working towards the following:
* Minimum of HND in Management, Economics, Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or another related Subject
* Project management qualifications e.g., APM
* Chartership status through a recognised international body.
In the absence of these qualifications sufficient relevant experience can be appropriate to determine suitability.
Essential:
* Project management tools and techniques e.g., EVM
* Planning software: Primavera P6, MS Project. Cost software: SAP
Desirable:
* Nuclear Safety Culture awareness
* The UK Nuclear Industry awareness
Necessary Proven Experience and Knowledge
You will have or be looking to develop:
* Experience in developing, managing and updating cost analysis reports and integrating these with project plans.
* Experience in assessing and analysing cost/plan performance.
* Experience of high value projects in high hazard/regulated industries
* Understanding various contract types e.g., the NEC suite and FIDIC
