A bit about us
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Energy or Environmental Manager to work with Somerset's Town and Parish Councils to undertake energy assessments and advise on energy efficiency and carbon reduction projects.
This is an 18-month fixed term post and you will be part of the Corporate Property Team.
The post is funded by the £1.5m Somerset County Council Community Climate Fund which seeks to deliver on our climate emergency declaration and climate Strategy aims.

Here's what you can expect to be doing
As the Energy Assessor & Community Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for liaising with the Somerset Climate Emergency Community Fund applicants to undertake energy audits of Town, Parish and City Council buildings and assets.
Following these assessments, you will produce detailed technical energy efficiency and carbon reduction plans and briefing notes, advising those councils surveyed what measures and technologies should be adopted to improve the energy efficiency of their built estate and other assets to reduce overall carbon emissions.
You will need to work independently, managing relationships with the multiple Parish and Town Councils, partner organisations, businesses and local communities across Somerset.
Working closely with colleagues in the wider Climate Emergency, Energy and Corporate Property Teams, you will provide detailed, expert technical advice in response to enquiries with regard to 'low or Zero Carbon' technologies, lighting, heating and building improvements to deliver upon Somerset's Climate Emergency Strategy ambitions as well as wider, related policy and strategy commitments.
A few things about you
To be successful in this role you will need to have a degree or equivalent in Energy Management, Energy Engineering Sustainability, Climate Change or other related subjects and/or equivalent experience.
You will have in depth knowledge of current legislation, policies, and practices with respect to climate change and energy along with Relevant energy assessor qualifications.
You will also be able to evidence demonstrable experience successfully delivering energy efficiency or carbon reduction projects or programmes and providing clear advice on options and solutions to deliver energy and carbon savings.
