Job Description
At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. We're committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that's welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.
The opportunity:
Boeing Defence UK (BD UK) has an enviable presence in many areas of the Defence and National Security market in the UK. Recognised for its superior engineering, integration, programme management and supply chain expertise, the Boeing brand is synonymous with a number of mission critical platforms and systems within the UK Defence and National Security sector.
Beyond the support of its renowned airborne platforms, including Chinnook, Apache and P8, BDUK plays a wider role in helping MOD to exploit digital capabilities, including in the areas of synthetic environments and modelling tools. Building on its established presence, BDUK is uniquely position to help MOD integrate and connect digital capabilities across the enterprise. We are looking for an Account Manager who is experienced in working with MOD, Navy and Air, who can lead our business development effort to leverage the existing programmes of work that we are delivering and to grow into new areas where BDUK and, more widely, The Boeing Company can deliver enhanced value.
This new role will be focussed on building and developing trusted relationships with our customers to gain deep insight, knowledge and understanding that we can convert into opportunities for growth. In doing so, you will be expected to build a credible business plan that BDUK and The Boeing Company (globally) can support and invest in to build a substantial presence in this market. You will play a key role in shaping the future of BDUK by ensuring the value propositions for the future align to the challenges and opportunities that customers in this sector face.
This is a unique opportunity to shape BDUK's strategic direction at a time when, as a whole business, BDUK is ramping up its presence in the UK digital, cyber and space and transform how it operates to meet the challenges that defence and national security customers face in the years ahead.
You will be expected to:
- Own the RAF and Navy accounts and build a persistent presence within these organisations where BDUK is helping to identify and address business and mission challenges
- Develop and expand relationships with new and existing stakeholders within these, and related areas of MOD, to identify and respond to business challenges and needs
- Represent the customers and their needs internally within BDUK to ensure capability is being developed and delivered that aligns to their needs
- Lead in the capture and reuse of domain knowledge and BDUK experience with target accounts
- Constantly drive BDUK to innovate to provide our customers with the best tools as they plan to adopt new capabilities and transform operations
- Own, evolve and deliver the MOD Navy and RAF account plans that align to the problems and challenges faced by customers today and in the future while leveraging the core strengths that BDUK has in systems engineering, business consulting, programme / service management, supply chain management and innovation
- Co-ordinate the support of the wider business (leadership in the UK and globally, Engineering, IT, Professional services and others) to ensure a consistent and controlled path forward is understood and messaging is clear and tailored appropriately to different audiences
- Maintain a full and up to date understanding of Boeing's global capabilities and experience and ensure these are widely understood and by the customer, and made accessible where possible
- Maintain an in-depth and up to date view of the competitive landscape and seek to build relationships with complementary partners who can augment and extend BDUK's ability to solve complex customer problems
- Work proactively to promote SME's and other innovators who may be able to solve customer problems by working with BDUK
- Lead capture management, proposal development and negotiation of commercial contracts for sales of products and services
- Report on account development progress, including sales pipeline, bid status, competitive positioning, and delivery risks
- Operate ethically and act with integrity and respect into a culture that is open and transparent, diverse and inclusive
What we are looking for:
- Established relationships with customers in the Navy and RAF commands, as well as innovation channels
- Experience of building account and business development plans
- A solid understanding of the technology landscape, particularly in the areas of cyber, digital and space, and how these will be relevant to customers across the Defence sector
- Experience of working with synthetic and virtual training environments would be advantageous
- A track record of understanding and aligning to the strategic direction of your customer and identifying problems and challenges that BDUK could look to resolve in the future
- A track record of identifying and successfully pursuing opportunities within UK government departments, ideally in the defence sector
- A track record of building teams that are shaped to adapt to specific customer needs, building and exploiting domain knowledge and contributing to a capture-centric culture
