HSE MANAGER / HEALTH & SAFETY & ENVIROMENTAL MANAGER - FOOD:
60% H&S / 40% Environmental
Burton-on-Trent
Up to £50k (DOE)
Grafton Recruitment are looking to recruit a HSE Manager to join a rapidly expanding food manufacturer that is going through a period of exponential growth. THE ROLE
As a HSE Manager you will be required to:
Support Factory Management as the lead & coordinator for Health & Safety and Environmental activities on the site, advising management on legal requirements, industry best practice and standards.
Work in conjunction with management and HR to drive the Safety and Environmental agenda incorporating training, accident investigation, culture and staff involvement, administration, insurance compliance, setting and improving standards.
Drive culture change and reinforcement of good safety and Environmental cultures - creates the forums and opportunities to involve and communicate.
Develop standards and performance for performance assessment and benchmarking (e.g. ISO 450001&14001:15).
Coordinate the generation and routine maintenance/review of risk assessment and safe systems of work processes, including statutory inspections/reports, in order to meet legislative requirements, to minimize and continuously reduce unsafe practices and accidents in the workplace.
Maintain appropriate records and documentation.
Coordinate accident investigation processes, recording and reporting industrial injuries as required by the company, our insurers (including proactive pre claim management processes). Support management on consultations with staff to minimize reoccurrence including supporting reviews.
Lead & coordinate claims processes, acting as a contact for our Insurers and loss adjusters.

Review, update and maintain Site Health & Safety, Environmental Policy & procedures manuals taking account of industry best practice.
Support required Occupational Health Programmes, supporting and advising management/HR on prevailing Health & Safety concerns and job related impacts.
Coordinate the supply and issuing processes for suitable protective equipment and clothing.
Represent the Company at local, regional and national H&S and Environmental forums, exhibitions & conferences to obtain and improve Environmental and safety awareness in the workplace building up appropriate and effective networks.
Leads and coordinates any prevailing objectives or Health & Safety and Environmental related projects/campaigns.
Responsible for the coordination of other wider site service activities such as security.
Provide Induction training and arrange identified and approved H&S and Environmental related training needs.
Deliver briefings or other local based Health & Safety training (including Fire/Coshh/Manual Handling, etc.) and Environmental training, which may be deemed necessary or appropriate for employees.
Work alongside Line Management to identify and monitor training needs/ training records with associated matrices.

THE CANDIDATE
The ideal HSE Manager:
NEBOSH qualified (Lv. 3 Certificate as a minimum - Lv. 5 Diploma preferred).
Food Safety & Hygiene L3
Environmental Cert (iema)
Must have previous experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment or similar
People management skills, able to motivate and coach others.
Be a highly engaging individual with well-developed interpersonal skills, able to relate to, work with and influence people at all levels internally and externally.
