Job description

Job Title: Purchasing Assistant
Location: Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Duration: 3+ months contract
Salary: £20k - £25k pro rata

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1.Update the supplier data and standard cost data in the MRP system
2.Issuing RFQ's and Logging quotations under relevant supplier(s)
3.Support the buyers to maintain supplier quality certification within Prism system
4.Support in implementing the Supply Chain Improvements such as JIT / Stock control/ Ensuring effective Material Supply to the Non-Production consumables and Site Services contracts
5. Ensure Data for monthly internal Dash Boards and the Supplier Scorecards are sent to the buyers for communicating to the suppliers
6. Support invoice queries and ensure that supplier payments are maintained in a timely fashion with Accounts Payable team
7. Expedite deliveries and Services as required
8.Download monthly reports and work with Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for management meetings and reviews
9.Support regular review meetings with the Suppliers and internal stakeholders
10.Ensure that records are maintained for approvals and appropriate registration of expenditure against budgets inc. workwear issue (annual allowances) & training log.
12.Support in the development of new process' and systems within the purchasing department and stores.
13.Make an active contribution of ideas for training and self- development plans
14.Manage workload to ensure that relevant department members are supported and ensure tasks and objectives are met in a timely manner
15.Adhere to reasonable managers requested tasks as required.

Background & Experience:
*Minimum 1-year experience in relevant rail or automotive industry.
*Possess good problem-solving skills
*Extremely Numerate and Analytical
*Able to work as part of a team or solo as required
*Results and Performance orientated
*Attention to detail and able to present data with clarity
*IT literate and fully conversant with all Microsoft Office applications
*Knowledge and practical working experience of MRP systems e.g. Topaz & Oracle.

Qualifications/Education required:
*Minimum 5 GCSE's / Level 3 NVQ or equivalent
*Also suitable for Graduate Trainee applicants
*Preferably to consider training
