Job description

National Engineering Manager - Bulk Logistics & Materials Handling Equipment

£Very Competitive + Car, Bonus, Blue Chip Benefits

Location: Flexible National Field Based Role

Are you an experienced Engineering Manager looking for a multi-site operation to lead and improve? (And when we say multi-site, we do mean multi-site!)

Due to retirement, our client is looking for someone with your skills and experience to take over and modernise the running of a national engineering team across sixteen sites in the UK.

That's right-sixteen locations, all with their processes and associated challenges for you and your team to overcome.

As a major supplier of construction materials, our client has a well-established network of road, rail, and sea transport supply lines. At each depot and terminal, goods are loaded, unloaded, conveyed, repackaged, and distributed to their next destination.

As such, the associated plant must be available and operational 24/7, so you'll need to ensure a robust programme of maintenance and servicing in place at each site. In addition, although your team contains experienced mechanical and electrical engineers, as the Engineering Manager, you'll have to build skill development programmes to upskill and cross-skill personnel at each site.

Alongside the routine maintenance programmes, you'll take a leading role in designing, developing, and installing new infrastructure projects across the UK network.

Our client envisages your background will include managing the preventative and predictive maintenance activities across multiple sites, focusing on materials handling equipment. You'll also need an excellent working knowledge of bulk packaging technologies and different transportation methods via road, rail, and sea.

Given the nature of the role, there will be significant travel around the UK with time spent away from home. As such, location isn't a significant factor to our client as they have sites within commutable distance of most areas
