Job description

Starfish Services currently runs a series of Social Hubs and related projects in the Midlands area.

Title: Social Hub Trainer
Location: Stoke on Trent, Midlands
Hours: 15hrs per week
Salary: £23,000 per annum (pro-rata)

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to represent this project, supporting the development of Social Hubs in community venues in Stoke on Trent. The Social Hubs will be for people to share interests, build skills and reduce social isolation.

Duties will include:

The key task is to train people to become accredited volunteers (using our OCN Level 2 training programme) who will help run the Stoke Social Hubs.
The Trainer will support the Stoke Social Hub participants into training to become accredited volunteers who will help to run the Social Hub groups and activities. By training and mentoring Social Hub members the Trainer will develop a therapeutic relationship with the Participants.

You will need experience of working with people who have suffered with a mental health problem for at least 2 years, along with a high standard of written communication and excellent interpersonal skills. Applicants must have a good understanding of the voluntary sector and demonstrate empathy and a non-judgemental approach.

The BBO project has received £300 million of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund as part of the 2 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England. The Department for Work and Pensions is the Managing Authority for the England European Social Fund programme. Established by the European Union, the European Social Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support skills development, employment and job creation, social inclusion and local community regenerations.
