Job description
NESFircroft are working on behalf of a industry leading Power Generation client currently expanding their service team due to increased project growth.We are actively sourcing a Commissioning Engineer (SAP). The primary role is to perform a variety of Senior Authorised Persons (SAP), Commissioning and Service tasks, identify technical problems and make analysis through remote or on-site activity in any Service categories (installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, engineering and consulting, advanced services, extensions, upgrades and retrofits, end of life services, replacements, etc.) for a variety of Clients from the industrial and commercial sectors many of which are blue chip . Focus will be on taking responsibility for the successful and safe execution of inspection and maintenance services, on time, to budget and the clients satisfaction.
Location: Home based, Traveling daily to sites around the UK with visits to main Stone Office
Hrs of Work: 40hrs, with additional on call requirements
Main Responsibilities
Executing construction and asset replacement projects on 11kV - 66kV distribution networks.
Undertake operational, technical and safety from the system duties associated with the construction, maintenance and commissioning of projects.
Play a key role in ensuring the business's teams are set to work safely and to ensure new/modified electrical apparatus is fit for purpose as it is energised or re-energised.
Prepare switching schedules for maintenance tasks, installation work, fault location and repair on customers networks where required.
Organise and execute HV switching, isolation, earthing, identification of the point of work and issue of safety documentation duties on HV networks up to 11kV and/or 33kV in accordance with our clients Operational Safety Rules.
Protection testing and commissioning.
Fault location and repair.
Assist in the planning and logistical support aspects of all projects and works.
Supervise/perform the following activities on switchgear and related equipment.
- Off-loading, Modifications/refurbishment, Maintenance, Systems testing and fault diagnosis
Perform site risk assessments and prepare method statements.
Document test results and produce site work reports.
Contribute to the formulation of offers for site activities.
Participate in necessary schemes to provide 24/7 cover.
Contribute to customer training activities.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
Experienced and qualified Engineer/Technician with >5 years' experience
Possession of a current Senior Authorised Person certificate on an existing Distribution Network Owners System or Independent Distribution Network Owners (not mandatory)
Experience in Power Distribution arena - ideally within a Distribution Network Owner or Independent Distribution Network Owners environment at 11kV or above
Experience of installing and maintaining switchgear and other related equipment
Experience of Protection testing and commissioning
Hold a full driving license and passport
Possess good written and verbal communication skills with good inter-personal skills
Be well grounded in switchgear and transformer, protections installation, commissioning, maintenance repair and testing.
Be well grounded in the principles & application of electrical safety from the risks associated with live HV & LV networks.
Desirable
Experienced in HV, MV and LV cable jointing
HNC in Electrical Engineering - Power Distribution
IOSH managing safety.
Safety passport.
CSCS card Holder
SF6 competent person
