Job description

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children's rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it's girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children's rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for - and respond to - crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an interim Digital Policy and Advocacy Officer to join the Digital and Innovation team within our Strategy and collaboration department. You will support and drive policy and advocacy efforts to bridge the gender digital divide through the digital empowerment of girls.

You will advise on policy and advocacy in the space of the gender digital divide, ensuring that you are aware of policy and research in the space of digital, gender and rights and advising on the use, risks and benefits of a variety of social media and online tools for advocacy.

This role will require internal collaboration with policy and advocacy colleagues, external partnership with organisations specialised in digital policy and advocacy and keen participation in digital networks, including catalysts, champions and Plan International's Areas of Global Distinctiveness.

About You

You bring a strong understanding of digital and technology trends and policy debates at the global level and experience in policy and influencing design, monitoring and evaluation, learning and knowledge management.

Experience in international work environments and an understanding of NGO structures, the girls and women's equality movement and the UN human rights and humanitarian system is essential.
