Job description

We are looking for an experienced Human Factors Engineer for a 6 month contract role based near Epsom working for a highly regarded industry leader in the oil and gas sector.

This is an urgent role and will start as soon as possible with regular office hours Monday - Friday. There may also be the possibility for some home working involved or extra flexibility for travelling contractors. A rate around £50 per hour is anticipated (gross limited company rate) or candidates can work via PAYE or an Umbrella payroll organisation.

THE ROLE:
Candidates must have an be able to provide independent technical advice on studies in human/machine interaction, equipment/facilities design, environmental design, and human performance assessment.
They will:
-Be responsible for advising on the project deliverables and writing of technical reports.
-Be able to advise on the design of experiments and usability testing, on data collection and analysis of behavioral data.
-Have knowledge of and can advise on human cognition, including serial and parallel processing, visual perception, attention allocation and reaction time.
-Be an expert in experimental design and statistical analysis with in-depth knowledge and experience.
-Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve Group's products or services.
-Be able to solve complex problems; take a new perspective using existing solutions.
-Work independently, receive minimal guidance.
- Be able to act as a technical resource for colleagues with less experience and have conceptual and practical expertise in this discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
-Have knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; be aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
-Have in-depth knowledge of UK and other European and/or industry standards and engineering requirements.
-Be able to act as a technical advisory resource for colleagues with less experience, advise on the running small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
-Solve complex problems; take a new perspective on existing solutions and exercises judgment based on the analysis
