Multi-million Life Science Business looking for Assistant General Counsel in Guildford area.

Your new role
Accountability 1: Corporate Governance\/Compliance
* Remain current on the latest developments in health care compliance
* Take the lead drafting and maintaining compliance policies and other policies for which Legal is responsible
* Contributing to developing and delivering training on compliance policy framework
* Be pro-active in raising and resolving anti-corruption and other compliance issues
* Add value to the analysis of business risk\/decision making process
Accountability 2: Company\/Commercial
* Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including distribution\/reseller agreements and purchase\/supply agreements
* Manage and resolve distributor\/reseller related issues, including termination
* Draft and maintain legal templates
* Provide preliminary advice in respect of disputes arising from commercial contracts\/in course of business
* Manage any litigation arising in liaison with external counsel
* Proactively raise potentially significant legal issues to the General Counsel\/Legal team
* Ensures that all such agreements negotiated are in compliance with company objectives, company policies, and relevant laws.
Accountability 3: Connected Care
* Able to convey complex data privacy and information security details in a customer-friendly manner
* Engage with key customer stakeholders in Legal and Privacy to help them understand how Connected Care products align with data privacy regulations and industry standards on information security
* Ensure timely resolution of customer data privacy and information security enquires
* Work closely with the Global Privacy Office, Global Information Security Team, Global Marketing, and R&D to stay current on the latest data privacy and information security details that affect the Connected Care products and services
* Provide legal support to the execution of regular data privacy and information security training for regional and country-level customer-facing staff by Marketing
* Make recommendations to the organisation about additional resources and\/or investments that are needed to meet customer expectations around data privacy and information security enquiries
Accountability 4: Oversight of Group legal entity footprint in EMEA
* Ensure proper administration of company secretarial filings\/records for UK registered companies
* Maintain overview of company secretarial filings\/records for all other legal entities located in the region
Accountability 5: Other support areas
* Provide support to corporate and global finance projects\/initiatives as and when required
* Provide support across the region as needed
* Manage external counsel - liaise and work with external counsel in order to achieve satisfactory and cost-efficient delivery of services
What you'll need to succeed
* Qualified Solicitor\/Barrister in England and Wales with at least 6 years PQE (ideally 10+ years)
* Solid General Commercial and Corporate experience from In-house
* International or EMEA experience will be highly preferred
* Previously has experience working as part of a global legal team
* Strong IT and Data Protection\/ GDPR experience recently
* Previously working in healthcare or medical device\/pharmaceutical industry will be highly preferred
* Previous legal experience in digital health\/telemedicine, consumer sales, regulatory, intellectual property will be desirable
* Team working, confident and persuasive, ambitious with excellent communication and relationship development skills
* Hands on, within the Can Do Attitude and open to travel
