Guildford, Surrey, United Kingdom
Job type: fulltime

Job description
The starting salary for this role is £35,382 per annum and is based on a 36 hour working week.
This role is open to remote working meaning you aren't required in the office 5 days a week. We're less about you driving to work and more about us collectively driving down our carbon footprint. We care about how you work rather than where you work; the people rather than the postcode. In support of our people and our greener futures strategies, we'd welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what remote working may look like for you.
The Environment, Transportation and Infrastructure Directorate is a large and complex directorate with responsibilities including facilitating safe and reliable journeys, shaping places for our customers, achieving sustainability and climate changes targets and always putting the customer first while providing excellent value for taxpayer money.
The Highways & Transport service within the Directorate is responsible for ensuring the effective management, maintenance and improvement of all highway and transport assets. The highway is the most valuable asset managed by Surrey County Council with a replacement value of approximately £7.5bn and is critical to the economic growth of the County. It is regarded by Members and residents as one of the most important services provided by the Council. As such, the service manages significant financial, health and safety, and reputational risks.
The service operates in an environment with significant political engagement, and has daily contact with MPs, Cabinet members, backbench Members and committees. Excellent customer service is standard and the postholder will be expected to embrace this in their approach, ensuring they put the customer at the heart of everything they do. They will be accountable to elected Members and residents to explain decisions and actions.
The postholder will be responsible for all aspects of the implementation and operation of the enforcement of moving traffic offences across the county. Crucial to the role will be engagement with all stakeholders and the wider public to improve understanding and acceptance of this new initiative.
Self-motivation and good organisational skills will be essential as well as a good knowledge of the subject matter and excellent communication skills.
At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
