Job description

Our client is one of the UK's leading civil engineering / groundworks sub-contractors. They have an excellent reputation within the industry and successfully deliver groundwork packages, civil engineering infrastructure and RC frames for their client base which includes many of the country's leading main contractors and residential developers. Contracts range in value from £500,000 to £50M.

They are seeking an Assistant Estimator to join their Head office team based near Horley in Surrey. With assistance and guidance where required, you will form part of the Estimating team with involvement in the tendering process from initial enquiry through to securing the tender.

You will be involved in all aspects of Estimating with knowledge and duties including:

* Production of BoQ's with descriptions for pricing.

* An understanding of the principles of measuring quantities from specifications and drawings, with a basic knowledge of standard methods of measurement.

* The ability to raise technical or information related queries with the client during the tender process.

* The use of computer systems and software for estimating and measurement.

* Pricing of works from 1st principles in conjunction with a senior estimator.

* An understanding of groundworks and RC frames would be a benefit.
