Job description

The starting salary for this role is £35,382 per annum, working 36 hours per week.

The Adult Social Care Systems and Digital Team have two vacancies for Business Systems Trainer. Both roles are full time (36 hours per week) and, although the team is based at Woodhatch Place, 11 Cockshot Hill, Woodhatch, Reigate, Surrey RH2 8EF, remote working is actively encouraged. This can be discussed at interview stage. The hiring team will consider part-time applications as a job share but this will depend on the role being covered full time.

As part of our greener future strategies and our commitment to creating a healthy work-life balance, we welcome a conversation with you regarding our remote working options. Remote working to us is a balance of spending time in our communities, our offices and working from home or wherever works best.

These two new roles in the Adult Social Care Systems and Digital Team have been created to support frontline staff to record their work in our core business systems LAS, ContrOCC and Wisdom. As social care is constantly changing and evolving there are likely to be more systems added to the portfolio in the next 12 months.

Over the past two years ASC has been implementing Strength Based Practice, which means that our staff work with people as experts in their own lives, supporting them to reach their potential, listening carefully to 'what matters' to them rather than 'what's the matter' with them. They promote equality, show compassion, and work creatively with people. Our systems need to support staff to work in this way and your role as a Systems Trainer will be vital to this, ensuring that recording is aligned to practice, and that systems training is delivered in a way that staff can easily take back to their day to day roles.

You will not be delivering static classroom training courses for this role - instead you will be using a range of training methods to deliver bespoke and varied training across a large social care workforce. This will include being responsible for a library of systems guidance, teaching new staff systems basics, working with existing teams to deliver refresher training and when required working across teams to train new system developments. Your creativity and desire to continuously improve your own knowledge as well as train staff will lead you towards new and innovative training materials and methods.

You will have a keen interest in social care and understand the pressures that frontline teams face in their work. You will need to learn and understand Surrey business processes and ensure that these are followed in all of your systems training, promoting a best practice approach to recording information. Your training will help us in our ambitions to drive up practice and data quality across the directorate and you will work closely with the Practice Improvement and Development team to achieve this.

To be shortlisted for interview your Personal Statement (no more than 2 sides of A4) will evidence the following:

  • Your experience of training, developing, or coaching operational staff
  • Experience in adult social care including operational knowledge of social care systems (ideally Liquid Logic or OCC) and an understanding of the principles behind social care practice.
  • High level of organisational skills, ability to reliably manage and administer training courses and materials
  • Experience in learning new systems developments quickly and understanding how they affect and impact on frontline staff. You will have experience of supporting staff through change projects.
  • Ability to travel across the county of Surrey to various locations to deliver training and attend meetings when needed. Much of our work is now carried out remotely so you will be adept at using technology such as MS Teams.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
