Job description
The starting salary for this role is £45,734 per annum and is based on a 36 working hour week.
Are you interested in transforming our approach to commissioning and service design at Surrey County Council, enabling better outcomes for Surrey's residents?
The Strategic Commissioning Manager is a part of our Strategic Commissioning Team, which works across the council and with partner organisations to promote and facilitate partnership-working, co-production with residents and a focus on long-term, sustainable outcomes. This role will be split between working on strategic commissioning projects in support of Surrey's vision for 2030 and supporting the Strategic Commissioning Learning and Development offer to shape commissioning practice and culture across the Council.
Central to the team's work is Surrey's commissioning framework that sets out a shared approach to using our collective capacity to understand and meet the needs of Surrey's residents and communities. Built on design thinking principles and outcomes-led approaches, this new way of working values systems thinking, collaboration with partners and co-production with local people, in order to create lasting change with our communities.
The successful candidate will be comfortable tackling problems where the solution and environment is uncertain and will be passionate about enabling Surrey's communities to realise better outcomes.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiating skills to bring about change
- Experience of commissioning (or service design and delivery) within a partnership environment
- Successful work with residents and communities to jointly design and deliver outcomes
- The ability to identify opportunities for improved outcomes and to connect a wide range of people, ideas and resources in pursuit of these
- The ability to prioritise competing requirements and to provide leadership and direction in an often complex environment
- An empowering approach to people management
At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
