Project overview:

This role is within a workstream looking specifically at enhancements to an existing forecasting (financial modelling) and proposal application, which is where projects that support the publication of our commissioned content begin.

The role will be responsible for working with the business and the development team to ensure the application is both adjusted to ensure it continues to support the business when the new architecture is implemented, and incorporate new features as necessary to fully support the agreed business capability; working with other workstreams within the project to ensure alignment on both workflow and data needs.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

- To fully understand the business need relating to assigned use cases, both as individual / standalone use cases and within the context of the full end to end workflow

- To translate the business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, UI mock-ups, financial calculations, and data point specifications

- To work with a developers to ensure the solution sufficiently meets the use case(s) (and user stories) identifying areas of concern where necessary, working with the developers, product owner, and the business to resolve

- To work with the business to resolve problems and capitalise on improvement opportunities (standardisation being key)

- To encourage the business to stay consistent with the project objectives

- To represent the business in technical discussions, ensuring their needs are understood and achievable

- To work with key stakeholders within all business functions, ensuring they are aware of key requirements and possible impacts, raising appropriate issues to the Lead Analyst, Workstream Lead, Product Owner, or Project Manager as necessary

- To follow established business processes, protocols, and quality standards in the development and deployment of complex solutions.

- To identify areas of business change that need close attention by the Change Management team, supporting where appropriate

Technical Skills and Experience :

- A proven track record of producing user interface mock-ups in line with existing designs, to aid conversations with the business and to aid specifications for development

- A good knowledge of conceptual data modelling, UML modelling, data flows, data analysis, and data processing.

- An interest in mathematics and financial calculations

- Proven track record of gathering business requirements and translating them into user stories/functional specifications, gained on projects of considerable scale and/or complexity.

- Broad understanding of software development methodologies.

- Strong facilitation skills; ability to facilitate workshops with all staff levels.

- Strong communication skills that allow for effective communication across all levels of the organization.

- Written communication skills including process documentation.

- IT research, software analysis, and design skills.

- Ability to guide and mentor less- experienced team members.

- Proficient in documenting As-Is and To-Be processes.

- Broad technical understanding across various methodologies, platforms, tools, and languages.

- Previous experience of working in an agile environment and using recognized development methodology; e.g., Agile, SCRUM, and KANBAN.

- Advanced problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues; prior success extracting/translating findings into alternatives/solutions; and identifying risks/impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making.

- Advanced communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc., including diction/terminology and presenting information in a concise and effective manner to clients, management, and various departments using assorted communication mediums.

- Knowledge of user interface design solutions preferable; Adobe XD preferable but not essential

- Experience of using Jira and Confluence desirable
