Senior Finance Advisor - Nature-based Solutions

This is an incredible opportunity to use your background in finance to deliver real world impact and save your planet. As the world's leading independent conservation organisation, we have formed a partnership with HSBC and the World Resources Institute to support financing of rapid scale-up and roll-out Nature Based Solutions that will help achieve Sustainable Development Goals and address the climate and biodiversity crises. This is where your financial expertise is needed as our Nature Based Solutions (NBS) Senior Finance Advisor.

As a member of the NBS Accelerator, you will be responsible for working with a portfolio of NBS projects worldwide to identify and develop their potential for accessing commercial finance. This will involve working with project partners to understand and assess potential revenue sources, as well as develop business models and financing structures that could allow NBS projects to move away from pure grant finance to blended or fully bankable solutions. Our aim is to accelerate a small number of these projects so they achieve investment readiness within the lifetime of the current programme.

In addition, you will use your expertise to inform work on systemic barriers and incentives which could help transform the financing landscape for NBS as well as work with project teams and key stakeholder groups to support learning, collaboration and innovation along the investment chain. We will also look to you to maintain an understanding of the market for commercial investment into NBS and the perspectives of investors.

For this role you must have experience of working with the commercial financing market as well as sound knowledge of green finance, conservation, international development, sustainable agriculture initiatives or similar. You will have a good understanding of governance requirements and issues such regulations and sustainable finance taxonomy too. You will also have an interest in investment management and the capital markets.

Comfortable synthesising complex information and translating it into impactful advice and communications, you will possess excellent influencing, interpersonal and communications skills. Good at building relationships, you enjoy a collaborative working environment and are impact-orientated.
