This averages to approximately 17 hours per week across the year.As an Environmental Ranger, you'll join our close knit team who act as guardians of our site at Arlington Reservoir. Our team ensures that the grounds and facilities are well maintained, safe and secure all year round. Arlington Reservoir is a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which means we do everything we can to conserve its special features.Arlington isn't just important to our ability to provide fresh, clean water to our customers. We regularly receive visitors who come to enjoy the beauty of the location. Your presence will ensure that the facilities and outdoor spaces are being used safely and respectfully.This is a customer facing role with plenty of variety. You'll help to answer questions, offer guidance and ensure that the site is being used as intended. This will include opening and closing public facilities, monitoring the carpark and ensuring visitors are only accessing public designated spaces.You'll also get involved with helping to maintain the performance of the site. For example, you'll conduct patrols to identify hazards; remove litter; check signage and ensure that fences, gates and stiles are in a good repair. Having previous experience using grounds maintenance equipment would be beneficial, but you don't need to have extensive knowledge of the different tools. We'll provide all of the training you require. What's really important, is that you're adaptable, open to learning and willing to contribute to the success of the team.You'll need to have a clean driver's licence and able to work on a shift rota for approximately 17 hours per week on average.The position covers non-standard / seasonal hours and follows a rota which is set at the beginning of each year. Due to the seasonal nature of the role, you can expect to work more hours during the summer months than in winter months. Hours of work cover Monday to Sunday, with hours ranging somewhere between 9am and 8pm. During the winter season hours are between 9-4pm and 9-8pm during other seasons. And, we're investing £433 million into new resources and innovations during 2.What you'll deliverYou'll answer customer enquiries and point them to the relevant department when necessary.You'll ensure that fences, gates, stiles and other onsite furniture is repaired and replaced where necessary and free of over-hanging vegetation.You'll keep the fishing lodge, office and toilet area clean and tidy by undertaking daily cleaning.You'll complete scheduled inspection and maintenance of tools and equipment used for grounds maintenance.You'll assist our Environmental Teams with baseline SSSI surveys.You'll complete patrols of the reservoir to ensure that the site is free from litter, hazards and that the general public are only present in areas designated for public use.You'll empty litter bins in public amenity areas to ensure that the site is litter free and free from vermin.You'll perform weekly health and safety checks for the public amenity areas of the site. You report all findings and will remedy potential hazards where possible.You'll encourage site visitors and their animals not to swim in the reservoir, or to allow dogs to roam the site off leads. Where problems result, you'll raise any issues with the team leader.You'll open the public car park, public toilets and Visitor Centre building daily and will ensure these facilities are locked at the end of the day.You'll perform weekly checks of site signage to ensure that they are intact and maintained.
