Sports TA and Sports Centre Assistant

37 hours, term time, of which up to 14 hours will be all year round for sports centre working

Bexhill-on-Sea TN40 2JG

17,372 per annum pro rata

Our client, a Sixth Form College in Bexhill, East Sussex is looking for a Sports TA and Sports Centre Assistant who will also work in their Sports Centre.

A Level 2 football coaching qualification would be an advantage to support the coaching in the football academy.

The post will require working some evening and weekend work.

The role:

You will provide high quality, efficient technical support for the Sports Area. You will work individually and as part of a team, supporting students who need additional support.

Your responsibilities will include:

To provide a high quality, well managed and efficient teaching assistant and technical support for the sports area.
To work in the classroom\/other sports delivery areas to provide assistance to specific groups of students.
To act as cover supervisors in the absence of teaching staff.

To work in the Sports Centre as required.
As part of this role, you will be required to

Actively assist teaching staff in the delivery of educational work programmes.
Actively assist students with their programmes of study.
Work flexibly to meet the needs of students and the pattern of the College year.

If qualified to Level 2, support the delivery of the football academy.
General Sports Centre duties.
Essential Skills and Qualifications

Ability to work within a team of staff and ensure that agreed procedures are followed.
Ability to develop different ways to support learning for students with differing needs.

Confidence to supervise a work independently including supervising a class as required.
Ability to work on own initiative.
Firm approach to discipline.
Confidence in completing records and following administrative systems.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.

A willingness to accompany students on a variety of visits and trips.
Be First Aid qualified or be willing to train.
An ability to respond flexibly to new challenges and opportunities.
Able to undertake training required for the post including mini bus training if appropriate.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

Educated to at least Level 4\/degree level in area relevant to the College curriculum offer.
Hold a level 2 football coaching qualification.
Knowledge of the post 16 curriculum.
An understanding of issues relating to teaching and learning in further education.

Experience of working with young adults.
Personal Specification

Youll follow good practice and college policy in all aspects of the work and in the management of staff and resources.

You will show an awareness of, and compliance with Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities.

The successful candidates will be required to possess an enhanced DBS certificate to be employed at the College.
