About the Role
Smugglers Barn is a residential service near Crawley and East Grinstead for males with learning disabilities and complex needs, including Aspergers Syndrome and Prader-Will Syndrome (PWS). With a homely, secure and caring atmosphere the team live by our person centred values. The focus is helping individuals to enjoy activities of their choice, try new activities which match their goals and to have a good quality of life.
They attend social clubs, the nearby farm, specialist sports and health clubs and enjoy nature walks and the nearby Garden centre. Individuals living at Smugglers Barn also love to take ownership of organising social events, BBQs, tea parties, mini festivals and other social activities with those living at another service very nearby called Little Smugglers.
You may already have experience in the social care sector as a Support Worker and are looking for the next step up or already be a Senior Support Worker, Senior Care Worker, Senior Healthcare Assistant or Senior Care Giver looking for a new opportunity. In addition to having experience in the care sector, we are looking for candidates who have a passion and enthusiasm for what we do We also recruit for attitude and personality so, if you don't have the complete range of skills , we can provide a full induction, relevant training and the support you need to get the most from your role.
To join us, you'll need to have plenty of experience working with individuals with learning disabilities or complex behaviours. An NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care is desirable, as is a good knowledge of relevant H&S regulations. You'll certainly have strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Confident, flexible and efficient, you're happy to work on a shift basis, and, where required, to be on call. Above all, you'll be committed to providing person-centred care that gives real equality of opportunity to all those you're working for.
