Job description
PETA Ltd are looking to source an exceptional Engineering CNC Machining Apprentice for our client, GWK. If you want to become a highly skilled machinist manufacturing complex, precision parts and components from specialist materials using CNC machine tools this is the role for you.
You will learn how to set, operate and adjust/edit equipment settings. Once competent you will be able to produce and prove programmes. You will measure/check components and make adjustments to meet specifications. You will be learning about CNC Mills, Lathes and Mill turns. Identifying the most effective toolpaths and machining strategies.
As a CNC machining engineering apprentice, this programme forms part of your companies succession planning for the future. The company will support your personal and professional development. You will be trained, supported and monitored throughout the process.
Training to be provided
Throughout the duration of the CNC machining engineering apprenticeship you will be required to attend PETA's Havant training centre for off-the-job training. This will start as 18 months of day release when you will complete your foundation skills training.

Producing Mechanical Engineering Drawings using a CAD System
Conducting business improvement activitiesYou will then pass through the foundation Gateway to complete your skills development training in years 2 - 4 with your employer. Your Level 3 development programme will include:
Level 3 Advanced Engineering (Development Competence) delivered in the workplace by your PETA Job Coach, and day release for 24 months to complete a Level 3 EAL technical certificate.Overall duration 48 months.
About the role
You will learn how to receive and check materials ensuring that they are available and correct
As a CNC machining engineering apprentice you will become competent using engineering drawings and technical specifications to set and operate machinery
Learn how to follow processes and use proven techniques, including setting up work holding using chucks, fixtures and vices and specialist tooling
As a CNC machining engineering apprentice you will become competent become competent planning how to complete milling/turning operations, entering programming data into CNC Mills and Lathes
Become competent programming, setting and operating CNC machinery
As a CNC machining engineering apprenticyou will become competent you gain experience you will take responsibility for adjusting a range of machining parameters to maximise machining outcomes producing products with a high degree of accuracy and finish, ensuring quality standards are achieved
You will become competent using conventional mechanical measuring equipment including Vernier's, Micrometre's to check that work is correctBenefits

Essential Skills
2 GCSE's at grade C or above (or equivalents) to include Maths and English are essential.
