Job description

An opportunity has arisen for an Electronics Design Engineer to join a solutions company than creates comprehensive sample-to-answer solutions for laboratory science, analytical and clinical equipment. Their products are delivered without compromise and are ultra-responsive with transparent project management.

You will be based in the busy engineering department, taking a key role in developing new custom and modified designs, delivering the product roadmap, and maintaining the current product range

As an Electronics Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

Developing concepts to meet customer and/or internal requirements, taking the product through design and development to production.
Modifying and enhancing existing power supply concepts to meet customer requirements.
Creating and testing new high voltage power supplies.
Creating and building test equipment.
Documenting work.
Circuit schematic capturing and layout of PCBs (both low and high voltage stages) using PC software tools.
Taking involvement in component selection and component obsolescence issues.
Producing safety assessments and approval liaison.
Customer application support.
The role also requires the flexibility to perform other activities, which from time to time become necessary. These activities may be quality, production or administration related.

We are looking for an Electronics Design Engineer who has the following skills and experiences:

Degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering or close derivative at 2:1 or above preferred.
Degree in Physics (or similar) or HNC/HND in Electronics with significant applicable knowledge and experience would be acceptable.
Thorough understanding of analogue electronics, control loops and power supply stability.
Detailed knowledge of high voltage power supplies would be advantageous.
Thorough understanding of low noise analogue circuits.
Understanding of digital circuits, low noise signal conversion and embedded systems.
To be proficient and have proven experience in relevant electronic design.
Experience as lead engineer on at least three projects, taking the project from concept to production.
Switch mode and linear power supply experience.
Experience of design for manufacture and for test.
Experience of embedded systems and use of microcontrollers.
Familiarity with simulation tools & test methods for transient analysis, loop stability and frequency response analysis.
Practice in working with PCB CAD and 2D CAD systems and some experience of 3D CAD.
Conversant with product safety and EMC.
