Job description

We wish to recruit a Maintenance Technician to join the Premises team at Worthing College. This varied and hands on role will involve key holding, opening and closing college buildings, and maintaining the College facilities and estate to a high standard. In return, we can offer a competitive salary of £18,544 per annum plus a shift allowance of 12% of annual salary (£2,225.28) per annum.

Key responsibilities of our Maintenance Technician will be:

Day to day response and planned maintenance/caretaking duties, including Fire Warden duties when required.

General College security, including Duty Security and Safety Steward duties.

Opening and closing of the College at specified times.

Car parking supervision and directions.

Care and general oversight of all equipment associated with duties.

Receipt, recording, distribution, collection and despatch of goods for departments and other Courier duties.

Cleaning specified secure areas.

Moving furniture and equipment.

Keeping all walkways, internal and external, safe and free from hazards. De-icing footpaths as a high priority on icy mornings (before 8am).

Overseeing external contractors working on site.

Undertaking of building maintenance work to a competent level under the direction of the Premises Supervisor and Senior Maintenance Technician; reporting on the need for specialist repairs

Be a key holder. Opening and closing of the College at specified times. Site supervision to prevent trespass, unauthorised parking, and unsafe practices as far as possible.

Our ideal Maintenance Technician should have the below skills and experience:

General education to GCSE level grade C or above (or equivalent)

Level 2 qualification in a building services trade

Relevant experience of working within maintenance or a building services environment

Knowledge of maintenance in large commercial premises
