WHAT TO EXPECT

The Lead Development Engineer is a senior member of the DV team is in charge of the technical oversight of the mechanical development, performance & functional verification and durability sign off as part of power unit design verification plan (DVP). The Lead DV Engineer should work in partnership with the Module Leader(s) to ensure all aspects of the DVP are delivered as required to a high standard.

WHAT YOULL NEED

As the Lead engineer you will be expected to critique & develope procedures where necessary and for the technical review and approval of data output. You must be principally liable for the technical delivery of power unit functional, durability & attribute validation testing, ensuring validation team are delivering to the required data quality and delivery standards.

Your role will involve ensuring tests are executed to correct procedures & operating conditions including approval to proceed on high value DV tests. You will also be consulted for the creation, maintenance and accuracy of physical test plans (DVP), and technical compliance in support of unit programme gateways.

You will take responsibility for interfacing with customers of the department effectively. Lead interaction with customers and suppliers, resolving any conflicts and ensuring appropriate escalation of issues for resolution as necessary.Including compiling & technically reviewing technical reports for DV tests as evidence for component and system sign-off and liaise with stakeholders to feed back.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:
* Experience of battery performance testing and attribute demonstration, linking virtual and physical validation methodology.
* Understanding of design principles and the application of quality tools within a product engineering environment.
* Able to prioritise & derive workload and lead issue resolution both individually and contribute/lead a cross-functional team.
* Experience within automotive product design & development environment.
* Expert knowledge of problem solving and quality tools is essential, together with a structured, logical and objective based approach to all aspects of their role.

Desirable:
* Good working knowledge of Product Creation Delivery System and Agile working practices (or similar process).
* Use of software programming to assist efficient data processing (Excel VBA, Matlab, Concerto Scripting).
* Understanding of traction battery design architecture in an automotive engineering environment.
* Experience of test facility installation, configuration and operation of relevant test facilities.
* Knowledge of battery certification test requirements and implementation across multiple markets.
