Job description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is a multidisciplinary environmental and engineering company, and includes one of the UK's largest development planning practices with in-house masterplanners, landscape architects, highway engineers and environmental specialists.

We provide a range of town planning services to public and private sector clients, and have a proven track record in securing consents for development projects ranging from major urban extensions, regeneration schemes and business parks to barn conversions, wind farms and major infrastructure projects of national importance. Our recent and current portfolio includes work for The Crown Estate, Duchy of Lancaster, Homes England, Defence Infrastructure Organisation, and a number of national housebuilders to name but a few.

To build on our successes, we are seeking an experienced town planner with a demonstrable track record of work within the property sector for strategic landowners and / or developers to help develop and deliver our growing portfolio of property work.

Skills / Qualifications

  • You will be qualified to degree level in Town Planning and will be a full member of the RTPI
  • You will have significant experience within a private consultancy environment within the UK, and of advising clients on planning strategies, as well as taking them through the site feasibility process, preparing planning applications, negotiating s106 agreements and securing consents
  • You will be technically confident and persuasive with excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • You will, ideally, have planning appeal and inquiry experience
  • You will have experience in managing or directing complex planning applications (from small to large sized projects) and managing multi-disciplinary project teams working to tight deadlines and strictly defined budgets
  • You will have the ambition and ability to support the growth of our planning team, and ideally
  • You will, ideally, have a full UK drivers' licence
