Data Centre Technician - South Birmingham | £35,000/ annum + bonuses

Concept Resourcing have a very exciting opportunity to work for our cloudled managed service client based in the South Birmingham area. They are looking to continue in their growth by appointing a new Data Centre Technician whose job will be to provide aid to a busy data centre facilities management team based in South Birmingham / Warwickshire. The opportunity will be very involved and challenging with plenty of opportunity to develop skills and progress your career.

Duties

Some important duties of the role will include installing, inspecting and testing of both new and existing facility equipment and related electrical services.
You will also be required to carry out routine documented PPM tasks across LV distribution systems and HVAC mechanical cooling / heating systems.
Monitoring the whole operation and making approved adjustments to the systems including CRAC units, HVAC, electrical systems, emergency back-up systems, hot water systems, pumps, valves, filters and other mechanical / electrical equipment will be a huge part of this role.
Fault finding and resolving any facility issues to the root of cause.
Ensuring 3rd party electrical and mechanical contractors work in accordance with company accreditations.
Both Electrical and Mechanical documentation and drawings must be kept upto date.
An on-call rota will be required to be covered once every four weeks which will run from Friday to Friday.
You will also be required to ensure compliance with Change Control procedures and also help in the provisioning of Data Centre Services for customers. Such as: installing IT Racks, copper and fibre cabling and racking and stacking of equipment.
Essential

You must have experience working in a pressurised situation and successfully handle multiple priorities.
18th Wiring Regulations (City and Guilds 2382)
Got to have a good understanding of Data Centre infrastructure (UPS Systems, Generators, etc) with awareness of environmental and Health and Safety regulations
Due to the location of the Data Centre, you will need to have a full UK driving license and to be located within 1 hour of the Data Centre
Desirable

Ideally you will have previous experience of building management systems with the ability to read/understand electrical and mechanical schematics
Inspection and Testing (City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent)
Some experience with structured cabling systems including Cat5 and Fibre
Awareness of mechanical cooling systems (e.g HVAC, Chillers)
Awareness of data centre industry trends and guidelines (e.g. ASHRAE)
Portable Appliance Testing (City and Guilds 2377-12)
Hours

09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday
Overtime paid at a premium
On-call 1 in every 4 weeks (Fri - Fri)

£35,000 Basic Pay
£3,000 On-call bonus
