Could you be a Sense Children's Community Support Worker?

It's an exciting time as Sense has just released its new strategy, we now have an opportunity for a Children's Community Support Worker to join our Get Out There Group in Sandwell.

This is permanent contract, working up to 10 hours per week.

The 'Get Out There' Community Support Workers provide support for children and young people who still live at home with their families. Working to promote communication skills, life skills, mobility and access to the community.

As a GOT Group Children's Community Support Worker you will join a fantastic team here in Sandwell. You will be supporting children in the community after school, weekends and during holidays. The children and young people you will support have complex needs, which may include sensory impairments, additional learning and physical disabilities and/or autism.

Activities include football, dance, gym visits, boxing, bowling, shopping, trips out to farms, soft play, fishing, dog walking and volunteering in charity shops with a young person plus any other activities the children and young people would like to do.

Your duties can include:

To support individuals / groups within the centre and community.
To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

Your required skills and experiences:

You require a full UK license and must be willing/able to drive your own vehicle. Mileage will be paid.
You don't need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need qualifications - we're happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker.
Knowledge of multi sensory impairments / learning difficullties is beneficial.
