Job description

Instrument Field Technician - Based in the UK with European Travel - Staff Position - £Neg - Highly Regulated Sites.

Our client has numerous manufacturing facilities throughout the UK and Northern Continent and is supported by a number of production facilities across Europe. Maintaining these plants in peak operating condition is crucial to our business, and we rely on a highly-skilled European Field Maintenance team to provide planned & unplanned maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and on-call breakdown cover to ensure quality production with minimal downtime. The team also supports plant improvement projects, and commissioning activities for new plants and additions to existing production plants.

Growing customer demand has created an opening for a suitably qualified and experienced Field Instrument Technician to join our high performing team.

This successful candidate will be primarily focused on practical work at the various production plants and can be based in one or several locations in the UK. Regular travel will be a key feature of the role within the diverse international locations in the UK & Europe.

Role:

* Responding to any major occurrence of plant breakdown, carrying out prompt inspection, analysing the fault, repairing and re-commissioning affected plant and equipment to ensure the minimum loss of production.

* Providing planned and unplanned hands-on maintenance support to operating facilities.

* Supervising contractors and/or Air Products staff and ensuring that the work is adequately planned and executed safely at a high level of effectiveness.

* Providing training to Air Products, joint venture, and third-party personnel in maintenance practices.

Essential:

* Proven experience as an Instrument Field Technician, ideally in an industrial gas or petrochemical environment, and displayed technical proficiency in dealing with the broad variety of control and instrumentation systems and equipment found in plants.

* Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work unsupported and make an effective contribution to the department objectives.

* Completion of a Formal Instrumentation Apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent

* The ability to read instrumentation drawings, trip panel drawings, logic diagrams and tables, PLC and DCS configuration.

* Good verbal and written communication in English.

* Flexibility to travel across Europe.

* A strong desire to acquire new skills and experience in a positive learning environment.
