You'll be Senior Test Engineer for projects that our Health & Disability team are working on. That means you'll be at the forefront of developing and testing applications and products that need to work for millions of people who access services, support and payments.

You'll be using your skills and knowledge in test automation, to develop and implement thorough testing approaches to assure service usability, accessibility, security and stability.

You'll have the people skills to provide in-depth feedback to development teams and to our stakeholders.

You'll be an important part of our Test community. You'll be seen as a leader and a coach to other test engineers, and share best practice with your peers in testing, engineering and beyond. And as you grow your skills and your career with us, there will be lots of support, insight and expertise for you to tap into too.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Experience as a Test Engineer in an agile working environment, creating, modifying, and maintaining automated test suites in a modern programming language (preferably Java).
  • A good understanding of development tools and processes, including version control (Git), BDD, CLI (macOS X, Unix).
  • Able to test interfaces between systems, with a complete understanding of the SDLC.
  • Able to identify test process optimisation opportunities and contribute to process optimisation.
  • Identifying and communicating best practices, promoting test community participation/activities and growth.
  • Strong communication skills promoting cross team collaboration, with experience of mentoring and coaching test colleagues.

Desirable skills/tech stack:

  • Testing software in a microservice architecture, use of continuous integration tools (GitlabCI, Jenkins), containerisation tools (Docker), collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Slack, MS Teams).
  • Performance test methodologies and tools (JMeter, k6, Gatling).
  • Web services (SOAP/REST) and automation experience with API and contract testing tools (Rest Assured, Postman, PACT), familiarity with Open API Specification/Swagger.
  • Cloud computing (AWS, Azure) and testing of infrastructure as code.
  • BDD tools such as Cucumber.
