Job description

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

To direct and oversee the operational activities, ensuring they are managed efficiently and profitability to facilitate the ongoing growth of the company. Candidates must have a mechanical engineering background. Ideally have worked with utility companies, mainly water and heavy duty engineering may have an advantage. To have a good technical background and able to manage a team of project managers

Key results areas:

1. Member of the Board.

1. To make strategic and operational decisions in collaboration with other members of the Board.

2. To ensure efficient and effective operational processes are implemented to meet business objectives and targets, which contribute towards profitable turnover, and market share growth.

3. To determine and implement key operational strategies which expedites the growth of our company through efficiency and productivity.

4. To champion the company's high-performance culture, recognising positive working environments and fast paced success, supporting and challenging accountability across the business.

5. To represent the business where appropriate, externally, and internally.

2. Leadership

1. To lead the Operations departments to maintain a quality driven operations function which is able to proactively respond to changes in customer demand.

2. To develop, support and monitor direct reports through motivation, performance management [appraisals, training, 121's] and counsel.

3. To delegate and empower senior leadership to maximise opportunities for their development.

4. To foster cross collaboration and continual improvement to ensure customer excellence is always attaine

5. To review and assess organisation structures in line with operational efficiency and productivity.

6. To consciously ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Company Policy.

7. To deliver and maintain programmes for service improvement activities and a framework for operational excellence.

8. To facilitate commercial partnerships, ensuring leverage of best practice compliance within the realm of operational activities.

Competencies:

* Combining an enthusiasm for operational efficiency and technology advancements, the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience within a similar leadership position. Candidates with a mechanical engineering background. Educated at degree level and Ideally have worked with utility companies, mainly water and heavy duty engineering may have an advantage.

* Familiar with 3D modelling / Heavy engineering

* Understanding of supply chain and supplier relations / negotiations and tenders

* An analytical and logic driven approach to operational and project management.

* A focus on high quality deliverables within a broad and changeable environment. [i.e., resilience and flexibility is key]

* Strong and ethical stakeholder influencing skills.

* Positive attitude and ability to think outside the box; leading from the front whilst maintaining ability get involved with tasks at all operational levels.
