Further information: A male Personal Assistant is required to support a unique 15yr old boy in the HU8 area of Hull. He is fun to be with, has a good sense of humour and makes people laugh. He likes computers and computer games, swimming, cinema and bowling, park and going out to McDonald's, Subway and Morrison's and one day wants to drive a train. He also likes fishing and travelling to places on the bus; he has a +1bus pass so the PA will travel free.

He has no perception of danger so an important part of the PA role will be to keep him safe at all times. He has epilepsy and is on the autistic spectrum and a PA with basic first aid training would be preferred. He likes to stick to his routine and can become anxious when his routine is changed unexpectedly. He can also show some challenging behaviours, but Mum will tell you how to respond to these.

The PA will be required to assist and support with meeting his social needs, will take him to Scouts on Thursday evening during term time and will support him to develop his independence and his practical skills and be able to be flexible. The PA must be able to accompany the young man on public transport, but it would also be useful if the PA has their own transport.

The PA will be required to undertake personal care tasks, including supporting with toileting and have a flexible approach as to the work you are involved in.

The successful applicant will be active, positive, confident and extremely supportive. Applicants should also have a strongly developed sense of social justice in supporting the social inclusion of young disabled people in their local community.
