Database Engineer (DBA) - Ilkley\/ Hybrid Working - up to \u00A350k

Hays Technology are looking for a Database Engineer (DBA) to join our established client in Ilkley. The successful applicant will be familiar with the design, implementation, tuning and operation of database and MI solutions in on-premise (Windows, Linux, SQL Server, MySQL) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure). The role works closely with colleagues to deliver strategic projects, contribute to the direction of the technology roadmap within the organisation, and ensure that they are able to leverage the data we have and act in the best interests of their customers

What you will be doing:

* Analysing and designing database solutions and data integrations required across their platform
* Ensuring the provisioning, availability and integrity of database solutions across their platform as required by SLA's
* Designing and implementing database solutions in keeping with best practice, service and build standards, and processes
* Maintaining data security to the relevant regulatory (including ISO, GDPR etc.) and industry standards
* Proactively monitoring capacity and performance of database solutions, tuning them to ensure performance is maintained at the highest level
* Managing the backup and recovery of critical database infrastructure
* Implementing and maintaining development, test and production database infrastructure
* Implementing automation that ensures repeatability and operational efficiency
* Providing 2nd and 3rd line support, troubleshooting and resolving issues as required and in keeping with SLAs
* Working with key stakeholders and 3rd parties to aid in the delivery of key projects
* Proactively researching technologies, tools and methods that enhance the management and use data within the business
* Providing expertise and guidance to people across the business as needed to ensure data is used and managed to the best effect
* Developing and maintaining their technology knowledge base and ensuring the correct operation of data solutions over time
* Mentoring relevant colleagues to ensure knowledge is shared throughout the business.

What we are looking for:

* Expert Microsoft Data Platform High Availability and Disaster Recovery Architecture skills.
* Expert Microsoft Data Platform backup and restore skills including point in time recovery.
* Expert in designing, tuning and operating MS SQL and MySQL solutions used within high transaction online services
* Good knowledge of ANSI SQL and T-SQL, including stored procedures and table valued functions, etc.
* Experience developing, deploying and monitoring SQL Server Integration Services in SQL Server 2012 or later.
* Experience developing, deploying and monitoring SQL Server Reporting Services Reports in SQL Server 2008 or later.
* Experience working with AWS and \/ or Azure database services
* Knowledge of other 'relational database management systems' (RDBMS), 'object-oriented database management systems' (OODBMS) and XML database management systems and NoSQL
* Experience with the management of resilient database solutions, including their backup and recovery
* Familiar with data warehouse design and implementation

* Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, where the technology is constantly changing
* Self-starter who can work independently and within a team
* Supplier management experience
* Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively
* Manage projects from inception through to completion
* Adaptable and able to learn new database technologies, tools and techniques when required
