Salary: £18,000 - £24,000

We are recruiting a Yard Operative position for a National builders merchants based from their branch in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.

Ideally someone with experience within the builders' merchants sector in a Yard Assistant / Yard operative and/or yard or warehouse experience. FLT experience would be helpful, but not essential as our client will provide training.

As a Yard Assistant / Yard Operative the role will involve an element of manual handling, as well as using equipment to load and unload deliveries, interacting with customers and making sure they are satisfied, as well as ensuring that the yard is kept presented to a high standard.

There is always plenty to do and a variety of jobs so it is important that the Yard Assistant / Yard Operative can use initiative and is able to manage their time efficiently.

The Role of the Yard Operative:

Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
Serving and checking customer collections
Moving stock to storage areas
Picking and packing orders
Keeping work areas clean and tidy
Complying with health and safety policy and procedures at all times
Responsibility for minimising stock losses by checking customer vehicles before they leave
Answering queries from trade customers or members of the public
