Job description

The role holder will have responsibility for the oversight, management and control of all legal matters on behalf of the organisation, regularly advising the most senior level stakeholders. You will also ensure the organisation complies with all relevant regulations and play a vital part in safeguarding the reputation of the business. You will have responsibility for the legal budget (including major projects), instructing external counsel when appropriate. As this is a first Head of Legal appointment, there may be the opportunity to recruit further lawyers in due course.

The role holder will develop, manage and implement the overall legal strategy and best practice, all aligned to the organisation's broader purpose and strategies. You will develop an approach to mitigating risk and ensure the business is on the front foot with regard to potential future issues. In addition, you will design and deliver legal training to the organisation and develop the appropriate suite of documentation for use by colleagues.

You must be a UK qualified solicitor with extensive in-house experience covering commercial and regulatory matters. Exposure to infrastructure matters and projects would be an added bonus. Given the seniority of the role, you must possess sound judgement, the ability to analyse complex situations and be a confident communicator. On offer is a top level basic salary and an extensive benefits package. Those seeking a 4 or 5 day working week are equally of interest.

To learn more about this opportunity please send your CV to Adele Callaghan (specifying full details of your current remuneration package) or email me for a return call to discuss the role.
