Job description
Medacs Healthcare are looking for an Occupational Health Advisor to join our growing team in Redcar
Job Purpose
To improve organisational effectiveness by providing a proactive Occupational Health Service.
To develop the capability of the organisation to deal effectively with Occupational Health issues.
To run flu clinics and administer other vaccinations as and when required to do so.
Key Responsibilities
Support the development and implementation of the Occupational Health strategy and vision, which ensures optimum health.
Works in partnership with the Management Team to increase productivity by lowering sickness.
Enable people with a health condition or disability to work.
Organising and participation of pre-employment health assessments and health surveillance/fitness for work programmes for staff as identified by work placed risk.
Develop day-to-day interface with external/internal agencies providing specialist advice to Line Managers on legislative matters.
Identify and champion best practice within Occupational Health.
Ensuring all departmental equipment is maintained and safe for use, in line with purchasing guidelines.
Identify opportunities for technology enhancements g. audiometers and other equipment.
To carry out face-to-face/telephone case management consultations.
Act as a mentor to the Occupational Health Technicians.
Carry out group training sessions on topics within fields of expertise e. DSE assessments.
Key Skills and Requirements
UK driving license and own car
Willingness to travel to clients sites according to needs of the business
Venipuncture and vaccinations
Ability to use own initiative and work within a team
Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
Able to build flexible and effective relationships across the business
Excellent organisational and analytical skills
Ability to cope in pressurised/stressful situations
Ability to deal with confidential matters
Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
Ability to carry out complex instructions
Ability to analyse data and produce written reports
Qualifications and Experience
Ideally a registered nurse with a recognised Occupational Health Qualification such as OHN Certificate, Diploma or Degree. However, health professionals with relevant OH experience may be considered for the role e. General Nurse with an interest in Occupational Health.
Ideally on the NMC register as a specialised nurse.
At least 3 years experience working in an Occupational Health setting.
Good standard of written and spoken English.
Knowledge of IT business software such as Microsoft Office, Clinic Office and Word.
Sound knowledge of current employment law and health and safety.
Good business awareness coupled with professional medical/technical skills g. audiometry, spirometry, vision screening and health promotion (This list is not deemed to be exhaustive).
Group training/presentations skills.
Health and Safety knowledge and experience g. NEBOSH/Ergonomics.
