And now about the role:
As a Site Reliability Engineer you will closely collaborate with the Development, QA and IT team to build the most efficient pipelines for the continuous delivery of the Client's trading software and infrastructure.
A typical day for a Site Reliability Engineer is a blend of short cycle maintenance and ongoing development and engineering work with a focus on optimizing the Continuous Delivery infrastructure, by improving performance, scalability and efficiency of the setup. It is required work closely with message broker systems, like Kafka, and long time storage systems, such as HDFS. Some of the usual tasks are implementing security, monitoring and tuning the configuration of these systems.
The role scope includes standard infrastructure and operational maintenance and ongoing development and engineering work with a focus on optimisation of the Continuous Delivery infrastructure by improving performance, scalability and efficiency. Key elements of this role is maintaining a hybrid infrastructure of cloud and internal systems.
What skills and experience you need to apply for this role:
- Proven experience working as a Systems Engineer or DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer with a Cloud and on premise infrastructure (Hybrid set up)
- Proven experience in a complex Linux infrastructure environment, ideally with in-depth knowledge of Debian Linux and CentOS
- Extensive experience in working with AWS or GCP, Terraform, Kafka, Kubernetes, Hadoop, Spark, Elastic Search, and Cloudera
- Design, implementation and maintenance experience with Kafka clusters
- Setup and maintenance experience with the Cloudera stack
- Orchestration and automation experience with a configuration management system, preferably Puppet and Ansible
- Working experience with CI/CD setups
- Solid working knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and multicast
- Excellent Scripting skills in Python, Bash, Ruby, or Perl
- Ability to work with version control systems (preferably git)
- Feeling perfectly at home within a complex Windows environment is a big plus
