Your role:

  • In your role as a Capture Manager, you will be responsible for (1) understanding the Defense & Aerospace market, (1) Searching for and identifying new ERC contract opportunities, (2) researching and studying the scope of the contract, customer, customer organization, and current contract management structure (if one exists), (3) developing relationships and strategy for potential contracts including travel and customer contact, and (4) serving as an author and reviewer for contract proposals

An ERC Capture Manager is the primary point of contact between ERC and potential Government customers (or other contractors in cases where ERC is a Subcontractor to a Prime contractor).

An ERC Capture Manager must be a proven servant leader and be able to coordinate with external customers/partners, ERC employees across the entire company, and within the Business Development team to prepare for contract bids.

An ERC Capture Manager must have strong written and oral communication skills, be able to assimilate information rapidly, be detail oriented, and must be able to work within a fast paced and highly effective team environment.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has a strong desire to personally drive ERC's business growth, enjoys developing relationships and growing a business organically. An ideal candidate will also wish to gain a larger perspective of the business of ERC, and want to directly influence future ERC business areas and contracts.

What you'll do all day:

Primary responsibilities:

  • Market ERC every day
  • Create a robust realistic pipeline based on market analysis & ERC's competencies
  • Develop a Relationship with Potential Customers and Partners
  • Employ Government resources and ERC tools to identify contract opportunities
  • Review and assess potential contract opportunities for ERC
  • Work with the BD team to select a personal portfolio of contracts for which you will have responsibility
  • Develop relationships and research contracts and opportunities within your portfolio
  • Develop & execute Capture Plans
  • Prepare briefings for Executives and BD personnel
  • Develop bid strategy for contracts within your portfolio
  • Work closely with the Proposal Manager and Director of BD throughout the proposal process for contracts within your portfolio
  • Work and coordinate with members of the BD team to prepare for contracts, refine strategies, collect relevant information, and respond to sources sought, requests for information, or other communication with potential customers within your portfolio
  • Serve as the ERC Subject Matter Expert for all contracts within your portfolio including identification of the opportunity, communication and relationship building with the customer and partners, and proposal development activities through proposal completion
  • Coordination with other HQ departments to prepare for contract proposal content and to gain an appreciation for various HQ functions
  • Author proposal content to include proposals within and outside of your portfolio
  • Develop proposal strategy to include management, technical, and cost approaches to be proposed
  • Communicate contract overview, proposal strategy, win themes, organizational structure, and initiatives to all proposal authors at proposal kick-off meetings
  • Identify, establish positive relationships, and negotiate teaming parameters for subcontractors to satisfy small business goals
  • Identify subject matter experts within the ERC workforce who can assist with the technical proposal
  • Develop initiatives, win themes, and strategies to provide for new customers/opportunities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key potential Government customers and partners

Minimum requirements for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree (STEM degree desired)
  • 5+ years of experience in Business Development
  • Must be a US Citizen

Desired skills and experience for this position:

  • Master's degree in STEM field
  • 3+ years of experience in Business Development for Full and Open opportunities
  • Proven success pursuing, capturing, and winning Full and Open contracts with the Federal Government
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven track record of competency (excellence preferred) within a technically relevant discipline pertaining to the Federal Government Clients that we serve
  • Knowledge, experience and capability in applying a broad range of business management, technical, finance, human resources, safety, and quality processes
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to prepare documents, financial reports, and for communication
  • Project management experience
  • Proven servant leadership
  • Familiarity with engineering practices and processes
  • Advanced thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • High emotional intelligence as evidenced by the ability to collaborate with peers, customers, and management
