Summary:

Reviews and analyzes loan applications and determines their disposition within established guidelines while providing assistance with leadership of staff and higher level departmental functions.

Responsibilities:

* Processes and approves loans within assigned limits.
* Conducts loan interviews.
* Explains loan policies to members and answers questions.
* Reviews the credit application for completeness and accuracy of information.
* Obtains and analyzes credit ratings required for processing loans.
* Uses product knowledge and sales skills to cross sell services to the membership.
* Receives loan department incoming calls and provides loan and other Credit Union information.
* Makes decisions on loan requests based on the analysis of the credit profile and loan policy within established timeframes.
* Maintains quality and accuracy rating on loan decisions and loan fundings within established department requirements.
* Informs members of the loan decision and the debt responsibility in an effective and efficient manner.
* Explains documentation and required fees necessary for the titling of autos, aircraft, boats, and any other secured loans.
* Offers financial options to the member.
* Completes special projects as assigned.
* Approves/denies, within predetermined guidelines, loan applications that are outside of Credit Union lending guidelines.
* Travels to local SEGs for loan origination sessions, when required.
* Reviews loans including denials, counter offers loans over debt-to-income ratios, loans over Credit Union loan limits and extensions on loans processed by other loan officers.
* Monitors and directs staff as related to operational functions, workflow, breaks, training and lunch schedules, in absence of Department Management.
* Appropriately reviews and approves loans that exceed loan officer limits with in defined limits.
* Evaluates and underwrites employee family loan requests.
* Prepares, evaluates and approves loan extension/deferral requests.
* Ensures full compliance with UNIFY Financial Credit Union Service Standards and the Bank Secrecy Act.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with five years experience in a consumer lending environment with two-years supervisory/lead experience.
* Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals and groups and proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software applications.
