Interested in a fast-paced position at one of the top PR firms in the Valley? Gordon C. James Public Relations is looking for an Account Executive to support media relations efforts in our Phoenix office. This is a full-time, salaried position offering a competitive salary range of $38K-$45K, a 401(k) matching plan, medical and dental insurance and flexible paid time off.
We're looking for someone who has worked at least 2-3 years in public relations, and has media relations, writing, social media and client management experience. If you have strong writing skills, think creatively, pitch fearlessly, and communicate clearly and concisely, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities include the following:

• Create detailed media lists and establish media contacts and relationships in local, state and regional markets.
• Develop compelling communications strategies and plans for traditional and digital media.
• Draft and distribute press releases.
• Pitch relevant and newsworthy story angles.
• Follow up on stories with phone calls to secure coverage in television, radio, print and online mediums.
• Remain timely and relevant with current events and trending news stories in order to pitch newsworthy stories and generate relevant social media content.
• Complete quality work, tasks and projects on deadline.
• Create and present public relations accomplishments and social media insights to client stakeholders at quarterly stakeholder's meetings- lead presentation and answer questions.
• Assist with coordinating events for clients on-site and prior to event.
• Write timelines and scripts.
• Assist with media training and speech practice.
• Write news articles.
• Actively update websites, social media sites and blogs.
• Availability some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications include:

• BS/BA in Public Relations or related field
• 2-3 years experience in full-time public relations or marketing position (agency experience preferred)
• Writing experience: Please submit two press release writing samples and resulting media coverage (if applicable)
• Graphic design and web design, Meltwater, Hootsuite, and video production experience are a plus.
