The HR Generalist II provides support to employees and managers in various functional areas; administers policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consults, interprets and provides direction to managers and employees regarding multiple Human Resources key functional responsibilities, including, but not limited to: HR and Regulatory requirements (i.e., FMLA, ADA. HR procedures, Sexual Harassment); Benefits; Employee Relations; HRIS System Compliance Requirements; Recruiting; Employee Performance Management; and HR Training
- Analyzes designs, interprets and refines complex policies, procedures and practices
- Maintains HR policies, procedures and reporting; ensures the Company is in compliance with current regulations
- Resolves and/or consults with Company's Regional and Corporate Executives, Managers and employees pertaining to employee relations activities
- Leads HR project initiatives providing project planning and leadership with a focus on project/business results
- Investigates and leads the resolution of employee relations issues such as complaints, harassment allegations, terminations, discrimination and situations involving interpersonal conflict in the workplace
- Coaches and mentors executives and managers on documentation strategies and employee performance issue follow-up
- Demonstrates knowledge of Human Resources processes and procedures and acts as a point of contact on complex issues related to HR process and procedures; demonstrates an understanding of problematic issues and when to ensure appropriate actions/follow up are required
- Develops and creates individualized employee conflict resolution plans and guides the corrective process; prepares documentation and reports on investigative activities
- Develops and maintains contacts with federal and state entities, consultants, brokers and other related vendors
- Mentors, coaches and trains HR Specialists and Generalists I & II
- Advises and recommends actions for involuntary termination decisions; raises any issues to appropriate management; ensures involuntary termination issues are documented
- Analyzes exit interview data; recommends actions based on data
- Stays current on the latest industry technologies, trends and strategies
- Assists employees, vendors or other customers by answering questions related to Human Resources
- Completes work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- This position requires a minimum of three years progressive human resources experience.
- Experience addressing employee relations and resolving unemployment claims is required.
- Corporate retail multi-site, multi-state experience preferred.
- Intermediate level computer experience, including skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
- Experience with Visio is preferred.
- Experience with HCM systems is necessary; Workday is preferred.
- Timekeeping system (Kronos) experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and must be able to clearly articulate ideas both verbally and in writing.
- Problem solving, organizational, detail-oriented skills are vital.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, while making timely and sound decisions, working efficiently in a fast paced environment is essential.
- Proven ability to motivate self and others while leading change and implementing human resources initiatives is required.
- Ability to gather data, analyze situations and make independent judgment decisions is necessary.
- Demonstrated knowledge and in-depth understanding of laws and regulations pertaining to human resources is required.
- Ability to identify complex problems, review information to develop and evaluate options then implement solutions is essential.
- Customer service skills are essential including the ability to manage and respond to different customer situations while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude.
- Ability to build productive relationships with employees, managers and executives; respected for HR expertise and ability to produce results is required.
- Maintaining confidentiality, treating others with respect and upholding Company values is key.
Educational Requirements:
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in business, human resources or related or equivalent experience. Advanced training in Human Resources Management, Talent Management, Benefits and Organizational Development is beneficial.
Work Days:
Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.
Work Hours:
Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be necessary.
