Summary

The Director of Operations provides leadership to the Operations functions including Production, Planning, Purchasing, Machine Shop and Materials/Logistics for all ABT facilities. The Director of Operations reports to the General Manager and is a member of the Executive Management Team. The Director of Operations is directly responsible for executing all operational goals with an emphasis on continuous improvement, cost reductions and improving customer service levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and provide leadership to Operations, Planning and Materials at each facility.
• Develop a strong and effective Operations team. Provide positive and objective coaching/mentorship of team members.
• Implement an optimal organizational structure to grow and support the business.
• Ensure that reporting departments have appropriate resources and are managed to fulfill responsibilities.
• Focus on results; coordinate and drive all locations to achieve monthly revenue budget.
• Deliver on targets for key performance metrics including quality, productivity, cost and delivery.
• Promote and drive compliance to all standard operating procedures.
• Drive superior customer service (on-time delivery and responsiveness).
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement through the application of lean manufacturing, Six-Sigma and other appropriate techniques.
• Support environmental, health and safety philosophies and processes that reduce workplace injuries and environmental impact.
• Plan for and recommend necessary resources to ensure success, including capital equipment, trained employees, appropriate facilities, effective infrastructure and materials.
• Emphasize and reinforce the organizations Core Values, EHS/Quality policies and Safety procedures.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Manufacturing or related discipline; MBA preferred
• Minimum 10 years' experience in a senior operations/manufacturing management role with responsibility for leading and growing a customer focused business
• Experience working with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing tools, emphasis on results process improvement.
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, teach, train and motivate others
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, high growth industry; willing to be hands-on and take initiative
• Strong project management skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Proficient in MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to interact well with customers
• Strong orientation towards customer focus and teamwork
• Experience working in multi-site manufacturing operation, preferred. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and cross-cultural teams at various locations
• Ability to travel 50% of the time to visit customers and manufacturing sites
