Primary Functions: The Logistics Specialist is responsible for securing additional freight, covering available loads and attending to customer service matters during shifts outside of standard business hours, such as nights and weekends. The goal is to track freight, cover as many loads as possible, deepen our carrier utilization, and capturing capacity as it becomes available as well as securing additional loads from existing customers when possible. This position reinforces BNSF Logistics's 24/7 commitment to providing best in class customer service to Deliver What Matters. Basic Qualifications: The Logistics Specialist must have at least one year of professional experience in a customer facing capacity in a sales or customer service role. A working knowledge of the third party logistics (3PL) industry is required as well as a positive and highly motivated attitude with a willingness to learn and desire for professional growth working in a collaborative virtual environment. Position Responsibilities: Establish and maintain relationships within the account management and carrier operations teams. Match available customer freight to available capacity within the BNSF Logistics carrier network, negotiate beyond price to demonstrate value for the carrier. Perform customer service tasks such as load building and responding to track & trace inquiries via email, EDI and phone. Negotiate with customers to secure additional freight within the OTR service line. Resolving issues customer relations issues that might arise concerning covered freight in transit. Willing to work non-standard shifts including overnight and on weekends. Education/Certifications: Broad knowledge of a field such as business, accounting, finance, sales etc. High School diploma or equivalent. At least one year of related experience in a sales or customer relations capacity is required. Disclaimer.
