Primary Function: The Controller is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all accounting activities within the department, leading the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes to publish highly accurate business results, maintaining chart of accounts and all account reconciliations and assists developing budgets and forecasts. Basic Qualifications: A highly effective Controller must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills, Candidate should possess knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and knowledge of provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Position Responsibilities: Accounting activities within the department including general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets. Monthly/quarterly financial analysis and daily reporting. Lead month end processes. Monthly general ledger account reconciliation. Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process. Coordinating any activities of external or internal auditors. Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes. Develops SOP's and monitors business and department performance metrics. Evaluating accounting and internal control systems and processes. Statutory filings (sales and use tax and escheat). Annual tax package reporting. Maintains skilled accounting staff by recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, counseling, disciplining and appraising work product and output. Education and/or Experience Qualifications: Accounting degree from an accredited university is required. CPA, Masters Degree and previous public accounting experience is preferred. 8-10 years related management experience. Disclaimer.
