Job description
FUNCTIONAL ROLE
The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the staff, equipment and processes on the shop floor . The primary function of the Shop Manager is to ensure all policies and procedures are followed, ensure safety, continued development and training of shop employees. The shop manager will work closely with our Project Managers to assure adherence to schedules, efficient use of personnel and skills, production machinery and other resources. The ideal candidate must have the ability to communicate and work effectively with office managers, field personnel, customers and shop employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
* Coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees while initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
* Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
* Uphold all applicable OSHA standards
* Implement company safety and break policies, ensure all employees work in a safe manner, follow directions, and wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
* Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment. This includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating regular safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents, as required
* Provide continuous shop floor inspection, ensure the safe use of equipment, and schedule regular maintenance
* Ensure all safety procedures and company policies are being followed and enforced at job sites
* Maintain safety, training, and equipment records as required. Record and correct unsafe conditions
* Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
* Coordinates and assists third party inspectors, when required
* Communicate effectively with project managers, shop employees, suppliers and customers
* Help team to maintain machines and work area in a clean and safe manner
Requirements
* Proven experience as a manager or supervisor in a fabrication, manufacturing or shop floor environment
* Working knowledge of the following areas: welding, brazing, burning, bending, heat treatment of metals, shearing and drilling, machine shop theory and practices, nomenclature of assigned equipment
* Ability to work in a group environment, give instructions, create accountability, lead and train others as needed
* Strong team building, decision making, and people management skills
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
* Employee must possess the ability to operate, handle, and lift shop equipment and tools
* Ability to operate and maneuver warehouse equipment, including, but not limited to, pallet jacks, forklifts, and push carts, in the manner necessary to move materials and consistent with manufacturers instructions and safety instructions
* Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including the ability to perform physical requirements, adapt to seasonal changes, significant temperature variations, and inclement weather conditions
* The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
* Ability to lift materials and products up to 30 pounds.
* Ability to abide by safety instruction and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or its equivalent is required
* High school diploma or GED.
* Must have a valid driver's license
* Friendly/Customer Service minded

* Must be able to work weekends
* Able to work overtime as needed
