General Summary

As a member of the HR team, you will strive to ensure that Penumbra is a rewarding and inclusive environment for all its employees. We are looking for an experienced and strategic Senior Human Resource Business Partner who excels in problem solving and working with cross-functional teams and employees at every level to achieve shared goals. Reporting to the Manager, HR, you will work closely with Business Partners to streamline HR functions, forecast staffing needs, enhance workforce retention, and manage risk though regulation compliance to support rapidly growing teams and maintain our culture while we continue to produce products that save lives every day.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

* Builds strong relationships with managers and employees for assigned departments and functional areas and assists with answering general HR questions and determining resolutions. Serves as a liaison for departments, Payroll, Benefits, HR Operations and Recruitment.
* Based on in-depth understanding of departments, business needs and issues, works with and provides input to the functional management and HR team by suggesting, developing, and implementing solutions for assigned departments and functional areas.
* Provide expert advice and guidance to managers independently on addressing routine to complex employee performance and HR issues including interpretation and application of HR policies, processes, and programs. Evaluate, investigate, and resolve routine to complex employee relation issues. Provide guidance and recommendations to help resolve work related conflicts or business conduct violations.
* Prepares and presents reports and engages in evaluation with management and legal.
* Guide the performance review process in assigned functional areas, including reviewing performance reviews, and continuously improving the performance review program.
* Work with managers on their future job and resource needs, including reviewing job descriptions, FLSA exceptions, job revisions and organizational structures. Provide guidance on contingent workforce practices (temporary employees and consultants ensuring proper classifications and limiting co- employment).
* Work closely with the recruiting team and participate by interviewing and assessing candidates, both via phone and at job fairs.
* Work closely with HR colleagues to support leave of absences, workers' compensation, and benefits administration.
* Lead HR projects and programs, such as affirmative action plans, culture, wellness, work environment initiatives, trainings, change management programs, employee handbooks, performance review systems, etc. May be involved with work visa process and be a contact for all parties including employees, candidates, managers, and external counsel.
* Facilitates meetings and develops and makes presentations and trainings, particularly for manager and employee development.
* Leads exit interview meetings with departing employees, assesses themes and makes recommendations. May be involved in involuntary termination coordination and communication.
* Produce reports and spreadsheets for functions and HR. Manage, analyze, and provide HR reports and insights. Researches and ensures policies, procedures and our practices comply with legal requirements. Regularly interacts within the HR Generalist team to ensure consistency of application and sharing of best practices.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree required.
* 5+ years of experience in an HRBP or HR Generalist role.
* Prior experience working with exempt and non-exempt employees required.

Additional qualifications:

* HR Certification preferred.
* Employee relations experience strongly preferred.
* Effective interpersonal, conflict resolution and coaching skills at all levels. Experience objectively coaching employees and management through routine and complex employee relations issues.
* Solid knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and current regulations; ability to apply knowledge and consult internally with management, legal, and other HR practitioners.
* A consummate professional with exceptional communication skills and the ability to always handle sensitive situations and confidential information with tact and discretion.
* The ability to successfully manage multiple projects with competing priorities and moving deadlines simultaneously, providing follow-up and follow-through on commitments with accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work positively in a team environment and be able to facilitate and conduct presentations in small or large group settings.
* Proficient understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Office products including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Previous hands-on experience working with HRIS, and time management systems strongly preferred.
* Manufacturing or medical device industry experience preferred.
