Our Global Sourcing team located at Division HQs in Alameda, CA currently has an opportunity for a Senior Procurement Specialist, Electronics reporting directly to our Senior Category Manager.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
We are recruiting for a Senior Procurement Specialist, part of our Quality Assurance function at HQ in Alameda, CA. This role executes against the purchasing and supply management strategies created by the Category Manager, working intimately with Customers, Divisions and the Category Managers driving the "One Abbott Procurement" model.
You'll provide superior levels of customer service and satisfaction while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity. Our Sr. Specialist has delegated authority to commit company funds. You'll work on the definition and resolution of known or anticipated problems in value, quality, feasibility and specifications in the procurement of goods and services while contributing cost savings, partnerships with suppliers and other value-added activities to support customer needs and expectations. This is a highly visible role while seeking and leading innovative ways to improve the procurement processes, cycle times, and customer service levels. You'll be considered an SME across the Electronics categories.
Key Responsibilities:
First line responder, pivots between strategy and operations. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Execute against category strategies and works in tandem with strategic category leaders; Develop and leads agreed purchasing strategies for the category.
Seek, develop and establish business relationships with diverse suppliers. Meet regularly with divisional customers and lead functions to ensure superior customer satisfaction and continuous improvement for efficiencies.
Researches and evaluates products and suppliers. Performs value analysis on costs and supplier quotes.
Recommends procurement process improvements to streamline for efficiencies.
Analyzes complex purchasing problems and delivers win/win solutions; Drive value and lead savings outcomes.
Support PO conversion - non transactional and decisive negotiations; PO change management and evaluate the cause for change; Enable supplier integration and KPI's.
Support Ops issues and invoice error resolution.
Develops bids and proposal formats. Lead complex RFPs as well as lead small projects.
Provides advice/direction in primary areas of expertise.
Communicate and educate appropriate departments to provide appropriate supporting documentation for purchases.
Maintain key Organizational Relationships: Category Lead Senior Manager, Functional Heads, Division Purchasing leadership, Operations stakeholders.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Required:
Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Combination of Education and Experience in lieu of a Degree.
Minimum of 4 years related Procurement, Purchasing and/or Supply Management experience.
Demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Project Management skills with an ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
Strong analytical skills, problem solving techniques and business acumen.
Ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
Experience implementing process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing).
CPM certification preferred.
