Overview
Primary Function
Under the direction of the Manager of Internal Audit, the Internal Auditor performs professional internal auditing work including planning and executing financial, operational, and compliance audits or projects. The Internal Auditor identifies and understands issues or problems, and develops integrated recommendations or solutions within a broad technical and organizational context.
Responsibilities
Nature and Scope (Essential Functions)
1. Makes sure that collections efforts are consistent, and documented accordingly.2. Reviews reserves for contractual, and appropriate write-offs. This test must ascertain the collection of out-of-pocket versus contractualizing the patient's liability.3. Reviews the proper authorization for payments on accounts payable.4. Verifies the integrity of materials management system, to prevent unauthorized, or incomplete supporting documents for payment.5. Reviews the manual checks logs, and procedures to ascertain unused checks are secured, and all the used ones are authorized appropriately and accounted for.6. Reviews employees' expense reporting for appropriate authorization, and compliance with AHMC policies.7. Checks the supporting documents for proper CERs, and authorizations.8. Reviews depreciation schedules for accuracy, and makes sure that fully depreciated assets are not being depreciated, and life assets are set appropriately.9. Checks status change forms for accuracy, authorization, and compliance with pay practices and HR policies.10. Makes sure that biweekly payroll records are reviewed and evidenced by CFO, or designee to ascertain accuracy.11. Makes sure that Accounting staff are reconciling the payroll deductions to GL.12. Reviews the accuracy of calculating and extending the year end physical inventory records, and reconciliation to GL.13. Makes sure that a cycle count is performed on a weekly basis on perpetual inventory.14. Makes sure that obsolete and slow moving items are properly documented and not counted as a part of physical inventory count.15. Makes sure that all the purchases are documented by an authorized P.O.16. Ascertains that vendor additions to the materials management system are pre-authorized by CFO.17. Ascertains that all the journal entries must be reviewed and signed off by the CFO and Controller.18. Ensures that the month-end financial reports including P&L, and B/S must be reviewed and signed off and dated by CFO.19. Reviews month-end accruals and prepaids for accuracy.20. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. The incumbent ensures compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation.2. The incumbent verifies assets and liabilities by comparing items to documentation.3. The incumbent completes audit work papers by documenting audit tests and findings.4. The incumbent communicates audit findings by preparing a final report; discussing findings with immediate supervisor.5. The incumbent prepares special audit and control reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing operating information and trends.6. The incumbent is responsible for directing the development and coordination of specific projects assigned.7. This position is responsible for promoting an environment of teamwork with all members of the organization.8. The incumbent is responsible for assuring the assigned projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner.9. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating with internal and external resources to ensure the success of the assigned projects.10. This position is responsible for assuring all stake-holders are well-informed and have the tools necessary to execute as needed.11. The incumbent is accountable for communicating to the Director of Internal Audit of any possible issues which may arise in order to proactively develop an action plan to minimize or eliminate the issue.12. The incumbent is responsible for acting in an ethical manner at all times.13. The incumbent is accountable for maintaining confidentiality.14. The incumbent is responsible for complying with all company policies and procedures.15. The incumbent is responsible for complying with all local, state and federal laws.
Qualifications
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or Finance preferred.2. A minimum of three years auditing or accounting experience.3. Strong analytical written/verbal communications4. Knowledge of federal, state and local healthcare regulations.5. Knowledge of HIPAA and privacy regulations.6. Possess excellent negotiating skills and communication skills.7. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external resources.8. Excellent oral and written skills.9. Ability to work independently.10. Must possess excellent human relation skills.11. Must possess excellent critical thinking skills.12. Possess strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task, and prioritize workload.13. Hospital Description
AHMC consists of a corporate office and seven acute care hospitals, AHMC Anaheim Regional Medical Center 228 beds, Doctors Hospital of Riverside 193 beds, Garfield Medical Center with 211 beds, Greater El Monte Community Hospital with 115 beds, Monterey Park Hospital with 102 beds, San Gabriel Valley Medical Center with 273 beds, and Whittier Hospital Medical Center with 172 beds. The facilities are Medicare and MediCal certified and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The hospitals provide healthcare services reimbursed by Medicare, MediCal, traditional insurance plans, PPO, HMO and under capitated arrangements.
