Overview

Responsible for the selection and qualification of sources, price negotiations, order placements and follow-up to completion. Conducts material planning and timely procurement of a broad range of materials and parts (domestic and foreign) necessary to support requirements for sustaining production in an efficient and cost effective manner, maintaining quality standards at all times. Accountable for the maintenance of product inventory throughout the product life cycle

Leviton's Intense & Birchwood brands are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as Buyer/Planner I to contribute to the growth of our Anaheim facility.

Responsibilities

* Coordinate and implement the planning and attainment of materials needed for post introduction of product on a sustaining basis
* Issue purchase orders in accordance with material resource planning guidelines and documented, released engineering specifications for all production materials required
* Prepare request for quotation, analyze supplier response, negotiate pricing / contracts and confirm purchase within budgetary limitations and scope of authority
* Analyze, interpret, and make recommendations for MRP requirements to ensure appropriate inventory requirements are planned and changes are implemented
* Vendor performance monitoring, expediting, de-expediting, invoice review and approval and quality assurance matters
* Maintain established line fill rates and target inventory levels for part numbers assigned
* Implement contingency plans when inventory availability commitments are at risk and initiates work-around activity
* Selection, development and qualification of sourcing
* Order placement and follow-up
* Shipment tracking / tracing
* Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

* Must have Bachelor's Degree in Business OR related field
* Minimum 3 - 5 years' related experience and / or training in purchasing OR equivalent combination of education and experience
* Member of formal Purchasing and / or Planning Association a plus

Skills & Abilities

* Must possess Microsoft Excel / Word knowledge
* Oracle knowledge preferred
* Intuitive ERP System Knowledge preferred
* Ability to manage high complexity projects within department
* Ability to manage, recommend and implement at sustaining level supplier agreements for mid to high level risk suppliers
* Must be an organized self-starter with good reasoning skills
