Job description
Join Cardno's Science & Environmental team in Sacramento, CA to play an integral part as an Environmental Scientist (part-time/on-call) conducting research and compiling data and information.
Job Description:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
> Review client requests for environmental clearance to ensure they provide adequate information.
> Conduct desktop reviews for environmental clearance work and ensure proper reviews and/or Cardno staff or subcontractors according to client schedule complete surveys, including for wetlands and waters.
> Coordinate with Cardno, subcontractor, and client staff to ensure surveys and monitoring are conducted according to client guidance.
> Assisting technical specialists in the field with biological (wildlife/avian), aquatic, botanical, water quality, and geomorphic surveys and monitoring efforts
> Conducting research and compiling/summarizing data and information under direction of project managers and/or technical specialists
> Preconstruction resource surveys and construction monitoring activities to ensure consistency with permit requirements
> Entering and managing technical data and preparing graphs and tables, as needed
> Assisting with preparation of technical reports, plans, and permit applications
Minimum Qualifications:
> Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, natural resource management, planning or related field
> 0-3 years of consulting experience, 2-5 preferred
> Excellent oral and written communication skills
> Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office Excel
> Willing and able to travel to field sites and other Cardno office locations
> Ability to work well independently and with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, team
oriented work environment
> Strong time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines
> Self-motivated with strong initiative
Desired Qualifications:
> Completed USACE Wetland Delineation training, or similar
> Land planning experience
> Knowledge of, and experience with, California flora and wildlife/avian species and habitats, particularly in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and Delta
> General knowledge of various environmental permitting processes, especially permits required under Section 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act, and Stream Bed Alteration Permits
> Positive, flexible, and team-oriented
> Detail oriented and resourceful
> Positive and energetic attitude
