Job description

OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth is seeking a Senior Scientist, Diagnostics (Technical Lead) to drive discovery of new DETECTR® in vitro diagnostics. The successful candidates will use their experience with genomic, molecular and biochemical techniques to contribute directly to establishment of novel CRISPR-based in vitro diagnostic assays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Explore and innovate novel technologies from proof of concept through verification
• Ideate to develop and improve sample-to-answer CRISPR diagnostic assays and substantiate through clinical utility studies
• Participate in validation studies and transfer successful new products to development following design control processes
• Maintain experimental records, perform data analysis and generate summaries for internal and external meetings
• Resolve problems by examining and evaluating data and selecting corrective steps
• Stay current in the field by participating in educational opportunities and reading relevant publications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics or associated field
• 5 years of industry experience or 3 years with a Postdoc
• Hands-on experience with in vitro diagnostic assays
• Strong background in assay innovation and optimization
• Working knowledge of design of experiments methodologies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with CRISPR nucleases
• Experience evaluating clinical samples
• Expertise in genomics and molecular biology, including principles of nucleic acid chemistry, primer design, technologies for gene target amplification using isothermal amplification methods and guide RNA design
• Experience managing a small team
• Experience in Python, JMP, and/or other data analysis tools
• Exceptional skills in communication, presentation, data analysis, and interpretation
• Highly motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to think creatively towards efficient problem solving
